Railway tickets 12/22 and 1/2 2007/11/20 05:52
Our family arrives in Nagoya 20 december and weLre going by train to Tokyo 22 december. We are planning to take the train in the opposite directon 2 januari. Is it hard to get tickets this time of the year? Where do you buy them, and how long time in advance do you need to buy them?
Best regards/Helena

We are planning to take the train in the opposite directon 2 januari.

The opposite direction (Nagoya to Tokyo) will be more busy to a degree where it might be difficult to make seat reservations on some trains. Also in the direction of Nagoya, it will probably be quite busy, but I think you should have little difficulties to to make seat reservations, especially if you do so a few days in advance.

Where do you buy them, and how long time in advance do you need to buy them?

You buy them at train stations at any time between one month before departure date until departure time of the day of travel.
