Hotel Mercury Tokyo? 2007/12/2 10:12
Hi anyone used this hotel before? Any comments?

Is Asakusabashi Station a good base for touring Tokyo? Are there eating places at this station?

Thanks!

entering the name of the station on the window above the questions (did you remember to use that window to find out about all sorts of things and previous posts?) brings up the following:

"Note that Asakusabashi station is not near the major sights of Asakusa and not near Asakusa Station, so depending on where your hotel is, it might not be convenient at all for you".
this means that there might not be too many eating places around for tourists.
looking at the general map on the Hotel site I can tell that it isn't the most conveniently located hotel! try Ueno/ Asakusa on the same site japanhotel.net. the Sutton place hotel is brand new and prices are comparable. The Ueno area has a great number of hotels and restaurants, is easily accessible from anywhere, including the airport, and Ueno park has several great museums. Shinagawa is another great area if you are planning to visit the Kansai and beyond later but hotels are a wee bit more pricey. I would not recommend the Mercury.
