I will be traveling in Kyushu from 28 Dec to 2 Jan. As this is a Peak Period for Train, I have to plan my trip carefully in order to be able to get Seats.
Please advise me which of the following Itinerary is easier to get Seats:
1) Traveling from Kagoshima to Beppu to Fukuoka from 28 Dec to 2 Jan, 2) Traveling from Kumamoto to Nagasaki to Fukuoka from 28 Dec to 2 Jan
Thank you very much.

It is probably about equally easy or difficult to get seats. But Route 2) is considerably faster.
As a rule of thumb, the trains in direction of Fukuoka will be very busy on January 2. In the opposite direction, trains will be busy around December 29-31.
