closest snow play area from Tokyo

Hi,
Me and my kids(3 and 2 years old) are going to tokyo on Dec 20-dec 28. My kids are eager to play with snow (we live in tropical country). IS there any snow-play area in Mt. Fuji? Is there any other place that is more close and convinient to travel to?

You could get the shinkansen north from Tokyo to Gala Yuzawa station which is adjacent to a ski resort where you are guaranteed snow in winter.
It's about one and a half hours from Tokyo station.

Shirakawago, about 4 hours from Osaka (difficult to do in a daytrip due to infrequent bus connections), has lots of snow in winter, although, currently there is no snow on the ground, yet:
