Takuhaibin To Non-Hotel Spots? 2007/12/6 00:38
Hi,

Some questions about Takuhaibin Delivery Services:
(1) If our hotel does not accept luggage sent via Takuhaibin Delivery Services, where else can we send our luggage to? Post office / convenient stores? Is it safe? We have tried emailing several times to our hotel in Takayama but no reply to date :(

(2) How & when are payment made? At the time of collection of luggage or after delivery of luggage?

(3) Do we have to be around when the delivery man comes to collect the luggage or can we ask our hotel to assist? Asking this as we would like to go out early each day and do not want to spend time waiting for the delivery man to come.

Thanks all!

It shouldn't be a problem; most hotels accept such deliveries. Our experience was shipping a parcel from Narita airport to a private address in Nagoya. We paid when we dropped off the items, they packed them and then shipped. The parcel arrived on time in perfect shape.

Luggage Delivery Service 2007/12/6 16:21
Takuhaibin To Non-Hotel Spots? This is your question but you discussed hotel. Anyway, as far as I know all hotels will accept your luggage and hold it for your arrival. It is generally held by the bell desk. You need not be there when it's delivered since you are required to prepay when you drop off your luggage with the Delivery Service.

When you want to forward your luggage to another hotel or location, simply go to the bell desk as they have the forms for you to fill out. They also have the rate schedule. You pay them and they will give you a receipt and arrange for pick-up by the Delivery Service. Some hotels may refer you to someone at the Front Desk to do this.

We've done this many times before without having to ask the hotel in advance. That is, just send your luggage to them and they will accept it as part of their service.

You can also forward your luggage to the Delivery Service office in the Departure Hall at the airport.
