I would like to do some lake or stream fishing in Japan.
Is a fishing license or permit required to fish in Japan?
If I do need one, where and how would I obtain one?
Where can I obtain the laws and regulations covering inland sports fishing?
I mainly fly fish and always gcatch and releaseh.

Legal you will need a license. You can get them at most (if not all) fishing/ tackle shops. I don't know what a day permit costs.
I think I paid about 4000en for a year license, about 3 years ago.

Are the licenses valid for all of Japan or are they regional?
Are there seasons for fishing trout?
I plan to go to Japan next month and hopefully Ifll have a little time to get a few flies wet.
