gravure modeling 2007/12/15 18:38
i'm living in tokyo and am interested in becoming a gravure model. i'd like to try part-time to have some travel money and to go back to school^^

i've been scouted on the streets before but don't think too seriously of the offers because the area where i work has many hostess/av scouts and i don't know who to believe!

any tips or suggestions? should i just send photos to weekly playboy or some other men's magazine and see what happens???

as for the working situation, i do speak japanese and have a work visa, but would i need to get an entertainer's visa for that kind of work?

Tami, have you done some research on the cards that the scouts have given you? A decent scout should have given you a name card, and their company should have an official website where you can check their profile. Then if you think they're reliable, you can take a friend with you to go visit them and talk it over.

But must it be gravure? If you're foreign-looking, I suppose you can go for agents that specialise in foreign performers. In any case, at the end you need an agent (jimusho) to be on show business.

For that, you will need to check the contract with your current employer (your sponsor for visa) to see if they allow side jobs.
