7 day JR Pass - is it value?

Hi - if I want to travel from Niseko, Hokkaido, to Nozawa Onsen (stay there for 1 night), then travel to Hakuba (whole journey proabably taking about 4 days including stopover at Nozawa Onsen) will I get my money's worth from the 7 day JR Pass? Will I be able to do all this journey on the pass (and not have to buy any other separate tickets)? Or would it be cheaper to not get the pass and just buy individual tickets as I need them for each part of the journey?

It takes about 12 hours to travel by train from Niseko to Nozawa! You might want to look into flying from Sapporo to Matsumoto. If you chose to take the train, a 7-day Japan Rail Pass would come cheaper than regular daytime train tickets. About domestic flights: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2364.html
