As for clothing, try UNIQLO. There're 2 UNIQLO outlets in Shinjuku area, one is above Seibu Shinjuku station and another at the corner of Shinjuku San(=3)-chome.

Winter boots...you mean "snow boots"? Then I think it would be better to buy them in Sapporo.

Another Uniqlo 2007/12/24 08:26
There's also a Uniqlo near the New South (ShimMinami) exit in Shinjuku, before you get to the entrance of Takashimaya. There is a GAP store not far away near the South East exit which has clothes for children.

Snow boots need to be bought from a specialist shop.

buy in Tokyo 2007/12/24 09:31
Speaking from experience of travelling to winter Sapporo a few times from Tokyo area, my advise is to buy all winter wear in Tokyo.

In Tokyo, you can walk around as long as you have one overcoat. However, once you get to Sapporo, you will have to fight snow from the airport or at least from the minute you start pulling your luggage from the bus to the hotel lobby.

Assuming your kids are under 10 years old, get any kind of "rain boots". Although most are, make sure they're waterproof and that they're soles are not smooth.

For adults, I recommend you buy snow boots at ski-wear shops like Victoria located near Shinjuku South Exit.

But since Sapporo is well-organized, you can also attach a rubber sole on your ordinary shoes. This little rubber soles can be purchased at a lot of station stalls in Sapporo (but not in Tokyo).

Don't forget to buy gloves for your kids! They'll sure to touch lots of snow in Sapporo. Uniclo gloves are very well made. Also, go to any drug store and buy some disposable "kairo" warmers. There are some for your pockets, some for your back, some for your shoes.

any idea if I can still find winter items in Uniqlo on the first week of February? Will the stock be very limited by then?
