Hotel in Tokyo 2007/12/27 01:33
I'm traveling first time to Tokyo. Which is the best area to stay at hotel wise and most reasonable one cost wise?

There is no down-town center for all of Tokyo, but different centers. While the hotels in the business areas of Marunouchi, Roppongi and Shinjuku are more expensive in the same quality range, they are more reasonable in the areas of Ikebukuro, Ueno, Kanda for example. Hotel prices go from Yen 6500 for a single in a clean business hotel to Yen 50 000 in a first class plus hotel in Shinjuku for example.

Don't forget that all the major wards (neighbourhoods) in Tokyo are lined up like beads in a necklace along the JR Yamanote loop line. So as long as you are near that line it is easy to go from where ever you stay t oany other place. Because the Yamanote is an elevated line you can have a look at all the areas as you ride along. To see a few other areas you will have to use subways but I usually use the Yamanote plus walking.
check www.japanhotel.net for interesting hotels. You pay at the hotel, nothing in advance.
