Hi,
I'm going on a trip with my friend soon and I was wondering whether to buy JR Pass or not since we aren't traveling across the whole of Japan, just the tokyo, kyoto, osaka and nagoya.And also can someone recommend any budget places that we can stay in each of the places mentioned above?
We would also like to stay in a good ryokan for one night but we don't want something that isn't overly expensive and with a possible onsen. Are there any suggestions?
I think that's all the questions I can think of now, I'll post more if I think of more later.

I was wondering whether to buy JR Pass or not
It depends on what trips you make in what time period. For example, a round trip shinkansen ticket for Tokyo-Osaka costs about the same as a 7-day Japan Rail Pass.
