Bringing young coconuts, milk 2008/1/7 15:19
I'm on a restricted diet and have to drink young coconut juice and milk mixed with Body Ecology kefir starter. It's a culture that turns the milk into kefir and the young coconut juice in a fermented drink similar to kefir. My doctor told me to drink it and it helps my stomach. The culture is made from lactobacillus culture, lactobacillus, yeast, and glucose. Can I bring this culture starter into Japan? Are young coconuts available at the grocery stores? It would be best if I could get goat milk, so I want to find out if that's available, but I can also use regular cow's milk.

You are very unlikely to find coconuts and goat's milk here. The only time I have seen green coconuts in Japan my boss had ordered them specially for a raw food lunch he was preparing. Goat's milk is possibly available in an import shop somewhere but I haven't seen it if it is.

Depending on the form (i.e. powder would be okay), the lactobacillus should be fine.
