Need advise :
Travelling to the following but need kind advises on the route to travel around these places.
Tyoko - Karuizawa Prince Hotels ( East Wing & West wing ) - Kusatsu NOW Resort Hotel - Hakone ( 1 night at Kawaguchiko Onsenji Yumedono ) and must come back to Tyoko.

Reaching Tyoko 11 Feb 2008 and leaving Tokyo on 18th Feb.

Can someone please help to determine which are the areas that we could go first so that we can book our accomodation ? Can walk too much though. Many thanks and appreciate.

The Kusatsu NOW Resort has private bath right ? Is it nice ?

I recommend to combine Karuizawa and Kusatu into one side trip from Tokyo and Hakone and Kawaguchiko into another one.

Access to Karuizawa is explained towards the bottom of the following page:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6030.html

Access to Kusatsu here:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7403.html

Kusatsu and Karuizawa are connected by bus.

Access to and transportation between Hakone and Kawaguchiko is covered on the following pages:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5206.html

Thanks Uji, But can you advise whether we should require to buy a JR Pass ( East Pass ? ) if we travel to these places alone ?

Also, we are quite confused with the transportation...is it possible to advise if you are in our shoes, starting from Tokyo, what will be the best route to take and return to tyoko finally ? Such as tyoko to Hakone to Kawaguchiko to stay one night then proceed from Kawaguchiko to Karuizawa or Kusatsu and back to Tokyo ?

Sorry for the trouble

Hakone - Kawaguchiko 2008/1/15 05:35
I have just checked the connections from Hakone - Kawaguchiko.

It takes you back to Tokyo and back out again.

I am sure they are on different train lines,

Check this site, http://www.hyperdia.com/ put in your destinations and it will give you train times and costs, Then you can aslo work out if a Japan rail pass is cheaper.

This is just a possible itinerary, which I would be willing to do myself:

12: AM: take the shinkansen from Toyko to Karuizawa (1 hour) and enjoy Karuizawa the rest of the day and spend the night in Karuizawa.

13: AM: take the bus from Karuizawa to Kusatsu. PM: enjoy Kusatsu and overnight at an onsen ryokan.

14: AM: see some more of Kusatsu and then take bus and train back to Tokyo and the bus to Kawaguchiko (the whole journey takes more than 5 hours!). Overnight in Kawaguchiko.

15: See Kawaguchiko (the view of Mount Fuji is often best in the early morning) and stay a second night.

16: AM: Take the bus to Hakone and see Hakone for the rest of the day. Stay overnight.

17: See more of Hakone and return to Tokyo in the late afternoon

I suggest to use a Fuji Hakone Pass for the Hakone/Fuji section of your trip and regular tickets for the Karuizawa/Kusatsu section.

Thanks Uji..unfortunately, due to the rooms reservation limitation, we have booked one night at Onsenji Yumedono. Our schdule as such:
11-12 Feb Tyo
12-13 Feb kawaguchiko Onsenji Yumedono
13-17 Feb Either Karuizawa Prince or Kusatsu NOW Resort ( 2 nights each )
17-18 Feb Zagyosoh ( fully booked now ! )
18-19 Tyo and return PM...

What do you think ? Have not figured out the transportation as too confusing. Trying to find airport transfers. Is the Airport Limo service better than i take the Narita Express to Shinokubo ?
Sorry for the trouble..Thank you

For Shin-Okubo, I recommend the Narita Express plus a short ride on the Yamanote Line or taxi.
