can anyone advise how to look for budget accomodation around asahikawa, kushiro, abashiri area? is it better to book through internet before our trip? are they accept walk in? date of travel 10-18 february.

I don't recommend walk-ins, and would use the internet to make reservations for Hokkaido just for any other region of Japan.
