JR Rail Pass -- yes or no? 2008/1/17 20:59
I am wondering if it would be worth getting a 7 day JR RAIL PASS.

We will be in Tokyo from Feb 08 - 13 then from Tokyo to Hakone for 2 days then to Nagoya.

Can you use the rail pass on Tokyo central subways/trains?

Whilst in Tokyo we will go to Kamakura, Yokohama and Nikko too.

Please advise. Thank you :)

no JR Pass 2008/1/17 23:39
and you do not return to Tokyo within 7 days? Then no JR Rail Pass. Visit Nikko by a special price day ticket, see under Travel Nikko, Tokyo - Kamakura is Yen 900 by local commuter train. Visit Hakone from Tokyo-Shinjuku railwaystation by Hakone Pass ( no JR trains within Hakone ). Tokyo subway is no JR. A ride on the JR line within Tokyo starts at as low as Yen 160. Tokyo - Yokohama is Yen 450 ( and on the way to Kamakura ). Tokyo - Nagoya is Yen 10 000.

Thank you for correcting me. I confused it with the lowest fare in the Osaka area :)
