There is a nonstop bus that goes from the Meitetsu Bus Center to Gujo Hachiman twice a day. Does anyone know what time of day it leaves and how long it takes? Also, do you think this is the better route than going thru Minoota and taking the Nagaragawa rail?

There are nine bus round trips per day between Nagoya and Gujo Hachiman (bound for Takayama, operated by various companies), but they stop only at a bus stop along the expressway, one kilometer outside the town center: http://www.nouhibus.co.jp/a0_bus/teiki/exp_bus/new_exp_nagoy...Departures from Meitetsu Bus Center: 7:30, 8:30, 9:40, 10:30, 13:00, 14:30, 16:00, 17:30, 20:30 The one way trip takes 90 minutes and costs 1800 yen. And the two additional daily buses (operated by Gifu Bus) that go only as far as Gujo Hachiman (town center) depart Meitetsu Bus Center at 9:00 and 19:55. They take almost two hours and cost 2000 yen for the one way trip: http://www.gifubus.co.jp/highway/express/ngo_hati.htmlBy train, the one way journey takes about three hours, costs around 2000 yen and requires at least two transfers along the way.

I haven't taken this route to Mino Ota but I would choose a express bus posed to a train, ...seems simpler and faster. With train it takes, 45 min to Mino Ota from Nagoya by JR Takayama Honsen. 1 hr 25 min from Mino Ota to Gujo Hachiman station by Nagaragawa Tetsudo line. With express bus, you don't have to transfer in between.
