Japanese Cookbook (vegitarian)? 2008/1/22 13:44
Hi,

I plan on going to Japan to study abroad in another year, and I'd like to try out some Japanese food before I go. However, I'm vegetarian.

Does anyone know of a Japanese cookbook with a decent amount of vegetarian dishes?

Also, are the ingredients for Japanese food hard to find in the states?

Thanks :)

try this:

The Japanese usually aren't very sensitive to vegetarians, so you'll find that to be challenging. However, lucky you, many traditional Japanese meals are meat free.

As for getting Japanese foods in America... it depends where you live in America. If you live in a place like Idaho, good luck. If you live in an urban setting then you shouldn't have too many problems. Just in case something is out of your reach, there's online Asian markets you can use.
