Q-tour hakone compare to freepass 2008/2/4 03:45
Planning to go hakone in Apr and stay 1 night. Is it worth to take the Q-tour Hakone 19500 yen compare to freepass? Wanted to visit 5th station also and how to go about it as the Q-tour does not include. Thanks

Q-Tour is a package tour that includes meals and hotel and limits your flexibility. The Free Pass covers only transportation, and you are flexible about everything else. So it is up to your personal preference.

Wanted to visit 5th station

It is not included in either the Freepass nor the Q-Tour. It takes 2-3 hours to get there from Hakone. And once you are there, you rather want to return to Tokyo directly than to return via Hakone, in which case you rather might want to look into the Fuji Hakone Pass:

You would have to pay for the bus from Gotemba to Kawaguchiko and the bus from Kawaguchiko to 5th Station. The area of the Hakone Free Pass is shown here:

Yes, you can use it to get to Kawaguchiko Station. The bus to the 5th Station is not covered and costs 2000 yen for a round trip. It does not operate until late April.
