Akihabara -when to visit 2008/2/4 17:16
Which is a good day to visit Akihabara and see Otaku culture (cosplay, general people watching etc). Sunday is no good because that is the day I am going to Harajuku and Yogogi Park. I was thinking of a Friday late afternoon. Are maid cafe etc open for dinner? Is it quiet during the working week/daytime?
thanks!

Go anytime 2008/2/4 18:57
You can go there anytime; shopping frenzy there doesnLt stop, although Saturdays are specially busy.

Akihabara 2008/2/4 21:51
Buria,

As Aerond says, Akihabara is a busy shopping district on any day of the week, and the maids handing out fliers in front of the station are always there. However, the weekends, and especially Sundays when the streets are closed to cars, are when you see other people in cosplay outfits and spontaneous street performances.
Maid cafes are open in the evening, but they are not really somewhere you go for "dinner". :-o
