midnight bus from Tokyo to Osaka 2008/2/4 18:26
Wefll be traveling to Japan for a 5 days trip at the end of March. This is our first trip to Japan. After reviewing lots of traveling tips, we would like to take the midnight bus to go to Osaka directly from Narita Airport. Our plane arrive around 5pm, then custom check etc. Will we have enough time to have dinner and make to the bus station? What will be the best route?

We plan to stay in either Osaka or Kyoto for two days, and then go back to Tokyo for rest of the trip. Should we stay in Osaka or Kyoto? Can you please help give suggestion about lodging for both Kyoto/Osaka and Tokyo? We want to find the mid range Japanese style lodging that is closed to the Midnight bus station & attractions. In Tokyo, will it be possible to find lodging closed to Midnight bus station; attraction and JR station (back to airport)?

Thank you for your time.

The direct bus from Narita Airport leaves terminal 2 at 20:35 and stops 5 minutes later at terminal 1. If your plane arrives around 5pm, you will have enough time for a dinner.

Should we stay in Osaka or Kyoto?

Depends on your personal preference. Or maybe Osaka, in case Kyoto is already booked out in late March.

Is the Terminal 1 has Tokyo - Osaka bus stop? I thought the Tokyo - Osaka transit bus station has to travel inside Tokyo first.

Stay in Osaka or Kyoto: Convenience is the main concern. It looks like that stay in Kyoto is better?

Thank you

The direct bus between Narita Airport and Osaka stops at both terminals of the airport. The bus counter staff will tell you the bus stop number.

There is one direct bus from Narita Airport to Osaka. Many more buses from central Tokyo to Osaka.

Again, convenience depends on your personal preferences. If you spend more of your time in Kyoto, you better stay in Kyoto. Or the other way around. It takes 30-60 minutes to travel between the two cities, depending from where to where within the cities.
