Travelling to Japan from HK 2008/2/5 09:25
I plan on heading to Japan later this month after spending a couple of days in Hong Kong. I looked around and found some outrageous prices like 700 euros for a flight to Narita.
Isn't there a cheaper way to get there? Any low-cost (but reliable,lol) airliners offering decent fares? Or maybe alternative means of transportation?
Thank you very much.

Dragonair is one of the cheapest carriers I know of to & from HK & Narita. There are flights to Haneda too, I don't know if they are cheaper but they are worth a try.
You might also look for a travel agent in HK, they may get better deals on airfares. You could do that via the internet well in advance.

@previous poster,
I've heard Dragon has dropped the service between HKG and NRT.

@OP,
Try this site.

Alternatively, you could go overland via Shanghai. First catch a train to Shanghai from HKG or Shenzhen to Shanghai, then change to the ferry to Osaka or Kobe.

This site also include not only train info but also ferry info to Japan.

Go to Northwest (asia) website and they are doing a promotion for only under 2200 to flight to narita from HK (tax etc not included). the promotion is valid in these few days and you need to make the trip between mid feb to mid march. much better than the shanghai one cause it is direct. on the contrary, if you prefer to visit shanghai as well, the later one is good choice.
