Ferry from Maizuru to Otaru question. 2008/2/9 22:05
I'm living in Kobe. I need to get to Hokkaido before next Friday. I think that the ferry from Maizuru seems like the cheapest way. Is it possible to just buy the ticket at the harbour on the day of the trip or will I need to reserve it in advance? The ferry company's website is a bit confusing to me.

Thanks.

Yes, the ferry is probably the cheapest. A one way journey costs about 9000 yen one way for the cheapest class.

Plus 2060 yen for the bus journey from Kobe to Maizuru:

Plus eventual travel cost from Otaru to your final destination in Hokkaido.

You should be able to buy a ticket at the terminal before departure.

If you read Japanese, you can do reservations online:

Alternatively, you can do it by phone (06-6345-2921) or through a travel agent.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Do you know where in kobe that bus leaves from? My ability to read kanji isn't great.

Thanks.
