Thanks for the previous help; I'm afraid I have another question. The phrase "8割方しか" - does it mean "only 80%"? It just seems odd for such a relatively overwhelming amount to be portrayed as "only" outside of a test score.

8割方 (read as "hachi wari gata" by the way) means "about 80%." And "しか" means "only," so put together it means only about 80%. Well, depending on how the sentence goes, or the context, if it's concerning something where 100% is expected, you could say that :)
