hotel or tatami guest house 2008/2/25 10:38
Hello, my name is Greg
This summer around the end of may will be my first time visiting Japan.

I plan to stay about 1-2 weeks, but the 2 main places I would like to go is Tokyo and Osaka.

I've looked on hotels.com and the cheapest I saw in Tokyo was like $109 a night.

i looked on the tatami-guesthouse.com and they said they have a house for 40,000 yen a month which is not bad, but than I only plan to stay 1-2 wdeeks.

can anyone please give me some advice or lead me in the right direction to stay in Japan. I don't care about any fancy hotels, just a cheap, affordable place to stay.

thank you in advance,

Greg

First off, check out Toyoko Inn:

http://www.toyoko-inn.com/eng/

They have several locations in Tokyo for 7140 Yen and Osaka for 5880-6720 Yen. If you go for the Toyoko Inn option, you will need to book two months in advance as the rooms go fast.

If this is more than you want to pay, here are some other options for Tokyo:
