Planning a 3rd Visit 2008/3/4 07:56
I've been to Japan twice. I'm planning a 3rd visit in July. I would like to hear some suggestions of places to visit of the beaten path. I've been to Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Kamakura, Kanazawa, Takayama, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Hakone.

Thanks!!!

My recommendation would be a trip around Tohoku...there are many nice villages, onsen, and scenic areas. Kakunodate is worth a look, for its beautiful samurai houses. And Tohoku will be marginally less hot than other areas of Japan.

I can only suggest some of the places i've been recently, Kutatsu Onsen in Gunma Pref and Matsue in Izumo, where there's Matsue Castle and Izumo Taisha.

The weather will be nice then so a trip to Kamogawa in Chiba pref to the beach may be nice.

Here is a link to the International Villas that are all near Okayama.

Definitely off the beaten path.
Have you considered Hokkaido? Plenty to see and experience there.
