Permit require to hike Mt.Fuji? 2008/3/8 06:37
We are planning to hike to Mt. Fuji in July or Augst 2008 during week days. Do we need permit to hike on specific day or we can hike on any day when the weather is good? We have hiked to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Is hike to the top of Mt Fuji is difficult? How to reserve the hut for overnight accomodation? Can we hike and come down to the base in 2 days? Thanks.

August falls into the official climbing season, when the mountain will be crowded by hikers. No permits are required during the official climbing season. Only during off-season are you asked to inform the local police about your intentions:

Fuji 2008/3/8 15:32
Fuji isn't anywhere near the height of Kilimanjaro- only 3776m. It can be climbed over night, or during the day if you prefer.

There is loads of info about this on the internet though, including this site, so I won't repeat it all here, have a look at Uji's link and try an internet search for detailed info.
