i got a japanese address with ''pier koenji''I know it does not mean a place to park the boat and Koengi is the name of a sub-area

I think that's just the name of the apartment building. Some apartment buildings do have interesting names I admit :) I used to live in a "Castle Mansion" years ago lol

I lived in an apartment building called "Gotenyama Heights" in a perfectly flat area. The message here is not to take Japanese building names literally. Koenji is miles from the harbour- you can just assume the owner liked the sound of the word pier.
