Birthday Cake Recipe?

My boyfriend is from Kyushu area, and I know there are different types of cakes in Japan, but in general, they are not very sweet. I want to make him an authentic japanese birthday cake from scratch, since american cakes are too sweet for him. Can anyone tell me of a recipe? Maybe a fruit filling? Anyway, the filling's not too important. Hopefully, someone will be able to help me.

japanese-style shortcake is most popular as bithdaycake.
a) flour 100g
sugar 90g
egg 3
butter 10g
vanilla or brandy
b) cream 200cc
sugar 15g
c) strawberry
1) make 18cm round cake from (a).
2) make whipped cream from (b).
3) slice a cake (1), and spread whipped cream(2).
4) put some cutted strawberry between cake(3).
5) decorate cake(4) with whipped cream and strawberrys.
