Dragging luggage around...

Hi all!
1) I'm carrying a fairly large luggage (out of necessity not choice heh) so I was wondering if it's okay to drag luggage through trains stations and all?
2) Is the bus a better option and will highway buses cater to my large luggage? Say Matsumoto-Takayama or even the shorter journeys like Nagano-Matsumoto.
3) I thought of going to Ainokura as well but I read that there's a steep climb from the bus stop - surely a difficult task for me with my big luggage?
Thanks in adv again!

Hi there having returned from Japan Nov last yr and having to drag luggage around like yourself i found it very difficult. Train and Tube stations always seemed to have steep steps entering and exiting. One on the trains there WERE storage sections but was hard to find space. Many of the Busse's had little or no luggage rack and only the coaches had seperate storage sections and was hastle free.

Thanks for your replies.
Your dragged your luggage around all month too? =P Looks like it'd be a difficult task..
I will try to take coaches as much as possible then.
It's a standard 24" luggage trolley (not cabin-sized). I will be carrying a backpack too, so I hope I don't cause any incovenience to say people on the subway/densha especially during the rush hours.

I wouldn't call that big, I traveled with a 30" suitcase last year, as well as a backpack (about 20x14x10) and and sometimes a large shoulder bag. I took all this on trains and subways with no real problems. Just take the backpack off when you are on the subway.
If you travel by shinkansen or limited express trains, you can place the suitcase behind the last seats of the car. On subways and local trains, I usually looked for the disabled car where there is a seatless area. That way there is more space to stand with your luggage.

RobBeer,
I see! After hearing from you I might consider bringing my 28"! It has allayed my fears of travelling with big bags in Japan already anyway.
Arigatou gozaimasu for the tips!

The first time I visited Japan I dragged my luggage all over the place - very inconvenient! Future visits I just used Takuhaibin luggage delivery service and sent my bags to my next destination every few days. This was an excellent solution.
