Japan is (usually) having 2 rainy seasons, one between june and early july and one between half of august and end of september (with typhoons), but as with the climate changes all around the world, it can be different this year. Anyway, allways bring rainwear and/or an umbrella when you go to Japan, it can rain on every day of the year. The good thing is that it never rains in the whole of Japan at the same time because of the mountain ranges, if it's raining in Tokyo, than it is possible that the sun will shine in Kyoto or Nagano. Just keep an good eye on the daily weatherreports on NHK tv in the morning and if you have a JR railpass, just go by Shinkansen to a non-rainy area

not rainy season 2008/3/18 07:58
The rainy season won't have started yet at that time. It may still rain occasionally, but to me that time period is one of the nest to be in Japan- lovely warm weather.
