Name of old village on Izu peninsula 2008/3/22 19:14
I visited a really old village on Izu, which had beautiful architecture, but I can't remember hat it was called, the buildings had an external lattice [plaster?] work, and a local bridge was constructed with the same lattice work. I'd like to recommend it to my sister.

Could it have been Matsuzaki? It is famous for that type of architecture, but I've never been.
Another possibility is Shimoda, but while it has a few buildings with the lattice-type look, and a very charming old section, it doesn't sound like what you're looking for.

Here is a link to a photo taken in Matsuzaki. Looks like what you are describing.
