Need help with proverb tanslation

Can anyone tell me the way the Japanese proverb "you can't see the whole the sky looking through a bamboo tube" is written the traditional way?

The only thing I can think of is:
Yoshi no zui kara tenjou nozoku, 葦の髄から天井覗く,
meaning "looking up at/trying to view the ceiling through the pith of a reed." It means (I believe) "trying to understand the big picture with your limited experience adn knowledge." Is this the one?

(Note that if you try to look through a bamboo, with jointed structure, you wouldn't be able to see through :))
