The official climbing season is July and August, when most of the snow has melted off. Fuji can still be climbed as late as early October. I prefer to climb later in the year myself.

Earlier than this, facilities won't be open, and conditions could be too dangerous for inexperienced climbers.

Many people fail to reach the summit the first time, so If you have mountaineering experience, and are properly prepared, it might be worth a shot, but don't hesitate to turn back if it seems too daunting. Too early in the year, conditions on Fuji can be unpredictable and brutal, if not deadly, and only worse as you approach the summit.
