City between Takayama and Tokyo

Hi, We'll be taking the train from Takayama to Tokyo on the JR Tokkaido Line. Is there a interesting city where we can stop to stretch our legs along the Tokkaido Line? The train ride from Takayama to Tokyo is 4.5 hours and we are looking for a place to do some site seeing inbetween Takayama and Tokyo for 2-3 hours. Thanks!

What about a visit of Mejimura? Go Takayama - Inuyama by train then bus, then on to Nagoya and from there shinkansen to Tokyo
