Osaka - Matsuyama - Takamatsu

We will be in Osaka on the 18 April and like to travel to Matsuyama ( Shikoku ) and to Takamatsu and back to Osaka.
We like to seek some recommendations on how we could get there. And is it worthwhile to purchase the JR Pass ?

you din't say how long you are staying in each place and in total. the round trip Osaka-Matusyama-Takamatsu-Osaka cost less than the price of a 7 days JR pass (see www.hyperdia.com for schedules and prices) but if you were to do that round trip in 5 days plus stay 2 days in Osaka and use the pass to go around Osaka a lot it would be nearly the same..
check www.japanrailpass.net/ to learn everything about the 7/14 /21 days JR passes
