Best place to view cherry blossom now

I am now in Tokyo and I realised that I am a bit too late for the cherry blossoms here :-( I am going north to Aomori / Lake Towada tomorrow (Apr 16). Which is the best place to stop to view the blossoms? I have a JR Rail Pass and so can make minor alterations to my route.
