Bear Ranch in Hokkaido

Plan to stay over at Lake Toya and Noboribetsu. I am under the impression that the Bear Ranch is near these two cities. Would like to know if it is easier to get there from Lake Toya or Noboribetsu using public transport. Anybody know of any website on this place? Pls advice.

According to the tourist map I picked up when I was at Lake Toya there are 2 bear ranches. One is near Mt Showa Shinzan at Lake Toya, the other near Lake Kuttara outside Noboribetsu. You can take a cab or a local bus to Mt Showa Shinzan - both the deer and bear ranches are just past Showa Sinzan. Don't know how far public transit goes past Noboribetsu though, and it's way to far to walk - a cab would be better.

Thank you Steve! Very useful information. We are planning to go Mt Showa. So will probably go to the Bear and Deer Ranch there.

This ropeway is right at the base of Showa Shinzan. Hope you will not skip this - the view at the top is awesome.
