cakes and desserts 2008/5/4 22:57
Me and my family will be in japan for 7 days and having a sweet tooth, may i know which cakes or desserts shops are particularly good in shinjuku or tokyo itself? Also, where is the best ramen place?

I strongly recommend a visit to the food departments in the basement of the department stores in Shinjuku (and Tokyo in general), especially Shinjuku's Takashimaya department store.

Also, "Sweet Forest Jiyugaoka" might be of interest to you. It is a "food theme park" about sweets:

ramen everywhere 2008/5/5 19:49
There are hundreds if not thousands of ramen shops in Tokyo- take your pick. the Ogikubo area, which is a little way into the suburbs (about 12 minutes from Shinjuku) is supposed to have the best ramen in Tokyo- there are lots of ramen shops tucked away down the side streets on the north side of the station. Be prepared to queue at lunchtime or on weekends!

Nanja town 2008/5/17 02:33
You should visit Nanja town in Ikebukuro. It has Tokyo dessert kyouwakoku with lots of popular sweets from all over Japan.
