Surgery 2008/7/24 00:10
Hey,

My dad's having surgery on Friday, and I wanted to tell my girlfriend, just as a heads up. So how would you say "My dad's having surgery." and "He's having his spleen removed."? Thank you very much if you could answer this, I'd just like to tell her because I feel she should know^^

Sincerely,
Ryan

My dad's having surgery (on Friday).
- Chichi ga (kinyoubi ni) shujutsu wo ukemasu.

He's having his spleen removed.
- Hizou no tekishutsu shujutsu desu. (It's spleen removal surgery.)

The word "hizou" (spleen) might not be part of everyone's vocabulary, so she might go "what?" and the words "tekishutsu" (removal in the medical sense) and "shujutsu" (surgery) might be somewhat difficult to pronounce, though...

I hope everything goes well for your father!
