part-time work permit - how long?

I hold a dependent visa and one month ago, I applied for permission to work part-time at the Immigration Bureau. I have not heard any news and when I called, I was put on hold all the time.
Could anyone verify how long does it usually take for the work permit to arrive? Thanks.
