Vulgarities/Swear Words 2008/9/17 14:29
Is it true that there are no swear words in the Japanese language? If that is the case does a word like くそ have the same context/aggressiveness as it's English translation does? I'm sure that there are certain words that if you would say them at school or somewhere similar in Japan you would be told of or looked down upon? Or am I wrong?

there are swear words in japanese
くそ is one of them
the reactions you get will be the same as if you spoke the same profanities in front of people in your home country.

among young people you'll probably get a laugh and minor scolding for knowing the word. among older people in a serious situation you'll probably damage your relations with them by uttering such words.
