Shinkansen

I know there were private rooms on Tokaido Shinkansen about 10 years ago. Do they still have them?

There are no private compartments which you can make a reservation for.

However, there are some private rooms for people with special needs, e.g. people who don't feel well, etc.

Now it is only the "Hikari Rail Star" trains which operate between Osaka and Hakata (Fukuoka) that have private compartments.

The regular reserved seat charge applies, but the compartments can only be reserved for groups of 3-4 people.
