cheapest places or food 2008/11/1 13:26
does any one know any cheap restuarants in osaka also what cheap food is good in the 100 yen shops?

100yen 2008/11/2 10:41
almost anything can be bought at 100yen shops, though the packages are usually smaller and i find that except for some products you're usually just better off buying it at a normal supermarket. stuff like canned goods and bottled products like oil and salad dressing are best bought at 100 yen shops though.

no idea about restaurants in osaka, i'm from tokyo.

At which area are you seeking restaurant? Osaka is big town.
Is there no cheap restaurant like Machikadoya, the-Meshiya, Yoshinoya, Gyouza no
Ohsho, or so-called teishokuya in your area? If you teach us your area I will search a branch of those chains on web. And you may be able to expect some local information of other person too, I suppose.

food, glorious food! 2008/11/3 15:30
Pancho, there are about a hundred restaurants in the second (the lowest one) basement of the Hankyu San ban gai underground shopping mall. The main entrance is between the waiting room for the airport limousine and the entrance of the Hankyu hotel. It is not far from the North Exit of the JR OSAKA station, and opposite the Yodobashi cameras buildings. There are several hundred cheap and moderate priced restaurant in that area and more in the Dotombori area, a 30 minute walk south of Umeda or 5 minutes away with the Midosuji subway.

Their shops are on the first floor of the Osaka Ekimae Dai-1 building, and on the second basement of the Osaka Ekimae Dai-2 building. Those buildings are at the south of Hotel Hilton in Nishi Umeda.

But those foods are also selling at several supermarkets at 100 yen.

About cheap lunch;

Some restaurants in the Shin-umeda shokudo-gai (East of JR Osaka station, under the elevated railway) offer cheap lunches; one of them offers tonkatsu-teishoku at 500yen.

Cheap food abounds! 2008/11/15 13:21
1) Conbini (=convenience store)!!! Lawson's, 7/11, am-pm, Family Mart...they are *everywhere* and they sell pretty good food for really really cheap-salads, noodles, onigiri, sushi, omelets, ramen, etc (they will provide spoons, chopsticks etc and even ask you if you want the dish heated!) They also have remarkable selections of bakery items:)

2)kusuri-ya (with the cosmetics & toiletries layed out in front) often have a small food and/or candy section...the ones with food sections will sell various cup noodles and other just-add-water dishes.

3)kaiten-zushi: sushi for (usually) 105/plate (2 pieces).

4)100 shops also have some food selection (usually, again, cup noodles, though they also have okayu-rice porridge-and dried fruits etc. in some. Also keep an eye out for Lawsons 100, a 100 conbini, in select locations!!!
