Residence Visa - Rental Guarantor?

I have a permanent residence visa. When I rented my current place, a Japanese guarantor co-signed the rental agreement. If I move to another place, since I'm a permanent resident now, do I need a Japanese (or any) guarantor, or is my permanent residence status enough on its own?

Even Japanese people need guarantors. You will still need a guarantor if the landlord requires one.
