I am traveling from the US to Fukuyama in March '09 for 8 days. I want to give a few gifts to adults I will be meeting there. Any suggestions on appropriate gifts to give?

It would have been better if you clarified in what relationship you are with those adults! Well, as for Japan the idea about "omiyage"(gift,present) is pretty simplistic the best present may be a box of chocolate or so.

I have always found something quite small from home is always appreciated: small book of photos of your home area, calender, or range of postcards etc or something unique to your area .... anything light in your luggage...from Australia its not too difficult to come up with this sort of thing..
