Best place to live in Saitama?

I'm planning on living in Japan and I've chosen Saitama to be the spot to live in. However, I'll be living there through JET. Do you know any places in Saitama that JET would consider letting me live in? I want to be close to Ikebukuro where all my friends are.. so maybe an hour away by train?
Is Kawagoe good??

JET won't let you choose your placement. They will let you request one, but the broader your request, the better your potential results.
If you would like to live in Saitama, it's best to leave your request at "Saitama" and let the programme choose for you. Because chances are, they will anyway.
