Hi, could anyone suggest a restaurant for Kaiseki lunch, budget under $Y6000? I've tried the gourmet navigator but the english site is limited and the offer are stuff like shabu2 kaiseki. We would like something more classic/traditional. We'll be stayin in Shinjuku, so anywhere near there would be great. Wouldn't mind anywhere along the yamamote line. Thanks

In Shinjuku itself, in Keio Plaza Hotel, there are two Japanese restaurants. "Kaiseki Soujuan" serves "kaiseki"lunch from 6,000 yen, the other one Miyama serves attrative-looking (though they don't call it kaiseki) similar-concept lunch set at 5,500 or so - they call it "kisetsu gozen," season's lunch set. I have not been to those restaurants, but the hotel is always very pleasant and professional. http://www.keioplaza.com/restaurants/japanese.html

Anymore suggestions?

Hi AK, thanks and yes something similar to Soujuan. Variety is what we are looking for. Personally I like the tofu but we do not want to spend on specialize produce but gearing more to seasonal produce. We heard about Keio b4, and made that a last option as its in a hotel. If not mistaken like everywhere else hotel prices cost a little more. For the same amount we might have a better experience in a restaurant. If you have anymore suggestion do fill us in. Thanks
