Price Shop Locally 2009/12/7 20:54
I looked at them,..I have seen all the advertised items in the Asian supermarket here in SF-Bay Areas,.. my only concerns would be the price itself. But for anyone living outside of California online shopping would be cost effective versus driving long distance to an Asian grocer.

If there is a large Viet Namese or Chinese community in Ohio, within driving distance to you, then, I would shop in those community for Asian foods. I am a freak for Asian foods, so I drive about 10 miles to Korean store, 6 miles to Chinese, & 9 miles to Japanese just for bento box. I don't shop for Japanese goods in Japanese supermarkets -Japanese goods are cheaper in the Chinese markets.

For safety concerns, all dried goods have a reasonable shelf life, so I won't worry about it. Quality should be okay too.

koamart.com is Korean
asian food grocer.com primarily Japanese efooddepot.com is mixed/ethinicity Asian

depends 2009/12/15 19:38
I guess it depends on where you live. If you're in the US/Canada, then Asianfoodgrocer.com is the way to go.

If you're in Europe or the UK, then http://www.japancentre.com/ is it.

I've ordered from both places and have always been satisfied!

A Couple of Other Stores in the U.S. 2009/12/15 21:03
Asian Food Grocer is fine; I order from them periodically and have never had a problem.

My favorite online Japanese grocery outlet is actually Pacific Mercantile. I like them because they have a good selection of everyday items and are great about custom orders. They have a brick-and-mortar store in Denver that stocks many items that aren't in their online catalog. They will sell you any item they have if you contact them directly. For example, they were able to send me a particular kind of miso that I couldn't find online. Their customer service is personalized and excellent.

Those are the two I mainly use for Japanese groceries, but I know of a few others, the largest being Mitsuwa:

A place I used to order from fairly often, Maruwa in the San Francisco Bay Area, closed up its online shop about a year ago. I was sorry to see them go.
