Both towns have several thousand restaurants in various price ranges. Most of the cheap to moderate ones have photos of the dishes--with prices--especially if they serve many variations of one type of food only, like donburi or udon, or curry. Other restaurants have 3 D models of the dishes withe prices, in their window. There are lots of restaurants around major rail station, in department stores etc. according to some internet sites Sammy is closed. But the Dotonbori area if full of eating places. So is the Kita Umeda area in Osaka. Same for Kyoto. The JR station alone has many restaurants upstairs and underground. then the major shopping areas, plus Gion etc. all have a plethora of places. http://www.bento.com/kansai/ka-kyshijo.html
