return to Japan with ashes?

My beloved father recently died and I will return after some time to Japan with his ashes.He died in US. I inquired the airlines and they told me their procedure and I had the funeral home prepare his ashes inside a plastic container which can be xrayed. What about arrival in Japan? Is there someone to inquire about rules for bringing my father for return to Japan? Please, if anyone knows some helpful website I would be so grateful. It is difficult to think clearly now but I am trying.

My condolences to you and your family.
Contact the Japanese Embassy. They can find out for you. I think it will be complicated though.
